Released in 1998, Breath of Fire 3 is the third in one of the longest RPG series by Capcom. His two predecessors have appeared on the Super Nintendo, and had really great success, and for good reason. BoF3 differs little from the other two titles in the series Breath of Fire, but once you start playing it, you do not care whether or not brings originality.
Breath of Fire 3 excels at graphics. The camera is attached to a 3 / 4, you can move the angle of view, cons impossible to move your character while the angle has changed. The polygons that make up the scenery do not display bug, even moving the camera and are pleasing to the eye, the decorations are so well drawn that might get the impression that they are 2D. The characters, meanwhile, are 2D, yet they are incredibly detailed and animated. However, once in the foreground or when the characters are in a field higher than your character, you can see they are starting to rasterize.
The music for Breath of Fire 3 was met with a mixed, a lot of people have claimed that the mixture of light jazz and lounge should never have been used in a video game, even if it accorded perfectly Thurs Actually, the only parts of the soundtrack that are questionable are near the beginning, and appear only slightly during the game itself. The remaining tracks are really well composed and has a high sound quality. You will surprise yourself humming some tunes, even if you hate. Overall, the Ost Bof3 defines perfectly what all music should be: fun and memorable.
As for the scenario, you play as Ryu, the last living descendant of Brood (or Dragon Clan in BoF 1 and 2), an extremely powerful race who have the ability to change into a dragon, while Ryu is not aware of it . Once the game begins, Ryu befriends two robbers (the robbers nice) who steal to survive. After stealing money from the corrupt mayor, to redistribute to city residents appointed McNeil, the three are attacked and separated by a large criminal organization to which the mayor belonged. Therefore, Ryu sets out to find his friends, discovers his gifts, and develops a desire to learn more about its origins. The history of the game certainly deserves his place in the novels.
Like BoF2, the past plays an important role in Breath of Fire 3, and the world even BoF holds a story. For example, when people use magic (as the Brood) die, they turn into stone, and are gradually transformed into a mineral known to chrysm, supplying machinery and robots, the machines themselves are of unknown origin have been found in the form of scrap, were repaired and used for different applications. Another mystery of the game, the size of the world - it seems really small, but nobody knows whether or not a territory after the vast ocean Outer Sea (Overseas) - there is no vessel can cross the Ocean. Mysteries like these will be resolved during your game play, as and when able, and you realize their importance in history.
Moving on to something really interesting BoF3, the combat system. When you start a fight, there is no psychedelic effect to let you know the start of combat, the enemies are slowly disappearing from the screen, the battle menu appears, and the battle begins. The menu is similar to that in Lufia and Fortress of Defense (remember that old SNES title) - there are 5 icons aligned cross-shaped, and each represents a different action, attack, magic, defense, and examine objects. This is a command that allows you to select and observe an enemy during a tour of the character. If an adversary launches a special attack when he is observed by one of your characters, then it will learn the special ability of the enemy, if his learning is possible. Also included in the menu, two options that are not directly selectable - Auto battle (combat car) and run (flight) - which can be used by pressing L1 and R1 respectively.
One of the most original features of this component is the system of learning by teachers, it allows your characters to learn special skills that you could not achieve by other means. The system works like this: there are a number of teachers spread the world that you can learn their abilities, sometimes free, sometimes at a certain price. These capabilities may very well be worthless or valuable depending on how you use them. However, this system has some flaws, some capabilities that you can learn could be learned simply by observing the enemy, so naturally learned by your character. For example Garr learns spells based primarily on the fire in the game, and one called Inferno. I managed to teach him the same fate with Deis, an old witch, Inferno was the first same fate he has learned. Another element that may include faults, some entertaining mini games, which do not distract so much from the main quest of BoF3. The two mini-games that really shine are the fishing game that makes you want to run to the ocean closest to all ends of fields and catch the whale, and the mini-game lets you build a village of fairies who possess great interest, as a musical composition with 40 tracks, or the shop that can duplicate your items.
Finally, Capcom has made this one of the best and most entertaining RPG on Playstation, and even realized what was believed to be technically impossible at this time with limited memory and limited opportunities 2D console, succeed in creating such beautiful scenery while polygons. Although some people will find the music debatable, it is really not the most important, you'll be so immersed in the game that you worry about that shortly. This is a game that any RPG fan worthy of the name should have in his collection.
