Fragile Dreams begins with a bit of dialogue spoken by the main character, a boy named Seto. His tutor, an old man who takes care of him, we left and now Seto is left alone in what appears to be a post-apocalyptic world where humanity (and any other sign of life) has apparently disappeared. You then take control of Seto in an abandoned observatory, where you will find a flashlight and a letter. The letter was written by the old man who once lived with Seto, and speaks of the red tower in the east where there would be other survivors. Shortly after leaving the observatory, you meet a girl with silver hair singing under the sky lit by the moon. It becomes aware of the presence of Seto and leaves suddenly in the dark. Then Seto managed to touch and is now sure it was indeed a human being. Since that meeting, Seto's goal is to find the mysterious girl with silver hair.
